Jose Altuve, the American League's leading hitter, followed, coming up with the bases loaded. Altuve hit a long fly ball to deep center that Leonys Martin ran down for the third out.
Meanwhile, Astros manager Bo Porter won his challenge on Rougned Odor's stolen-base attempt in the seventh inning.
With one out in the inning, Odor -- who already had a stolen base in the game -- attempted to swipe second base again. He was initially ruled safe, but Astros second baseman Gregorio Petit urged the home dugout to challenge the call.
After a two-minute, 44-second review, the replay official overturned the call and ruled Odor out. The Astros got out of the inning without allowing a run to keep the Rangers lead to 2-1.
Porter has now been successful on 14 of his 23 challenges during the replay system's first season in use.
