OAKLAND -- A's manager Bob Melvin successfully challenged an out call at second base in the first inning of Wednesday's game against the Astros.

With two outs in the frame, Josh Donaldson hit into what appeared to be an inning-ending fielder's choice, with second-base umpire Mike Everitt ruling John Jaso out at second base.

Upon further review, at Melvin's request, the call was overturned. Jaso was ruled safe, and Donaldson was awarded a single to load the bases for Stephen Vogt, who grounded out to end the inning.

Melvin has won 10 of 17 challenges this year.
