ARLINGTON -- The Astros challenged second-base umpire Adam Hamari's call that George Springer was out as he slid into the bag in the seventh inning of the Astros' matchup with the Rangers Tuesday.
Springer had sent a ball to Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor, who bobbled it as Springer rounded first and then headed toward second. Leonys Martin fielded it behind Odor and threw it back to him for the tag.
Odor tagged Springer as he slid, and Springer was called out. When Houston challenged the call, it was confirmed. Springer's RBI scored Jose Altuve for the 5-2 Astros lead.
