HOUSTON -- Manager Bo Porter unsuccessfully challenged a play in the third inning of Thursday's game against the D-backs, losing his ability to issue a challenge the remainder of the game.

Porter thought that D-backs outfielder David Peralta had been tagged out at third base following a throw from right fielder George Springer. The play was extremely close, but the umpires consulted the replay, and the play stood as called on the field, with Peralta safe.

Peralta was at first after hitting a single when teammate Ender Inciarte hit a grounder that went under the glove of sure-handed second baseman Jose Altuve and into right field. Peralta took off aggressively for third and was nearly thrown out by Springer.

Porter has challenged 14 calls this season, with seven overturned.
