Fun Astros Weekend Ahead At Minute Maid Park

HOUSTON, TX - This weekend will offer several fun attractions for fans at Minute Maid Park as the Astros host the Chicago White Sox in a three-game series (Fri.-Sun.). For ticket information, visit Astros.com or call 1-877-9ASTROS. See below for details:

FRIDAY - 7:10 p.m. game

*The Astros Big & Bright Friday Nights return with a postgame fireworks show, presented by Marathon Oil Corporation. The music for this upcoming fireworks show will have a "Broadway" theme.

*Every Friday from 4:30-6:00 p.m. is St. Arnold Happy Hour, featuring $5, 12-ounce beers at the St. Arnold's Bar in left field. Live music will be featured throughout the event beginning this week with a performance from Houston-based band The Guppies.

*Prior to game time, the Astros will recognize breast cancer survivor Tammy Roberts, who was one of 31 winners selected across the league as part of Major League Baseball's Honorary Bat Girl contest. Roberts, who courageously battled cancer for close to two years, will be honored during the pregame ceremonies.

*Immediately following the Astros game, the Long Haul Bombers will return to Minute Maid Park to take the field for an impressive Home Run Derby as part of their Stadium Power Tour. The team will also be available for autographs on the main concourse at Section 119 from 6:00-6:30 p.m.

*Budweiser Day Fresh Draughts are available every Friday on the Budweiser Patio. Budweiser's Day Fresh Draughts are delivered Friday afternoons directly from the Houston Brewery to Minute Maid Park for fans to enjoy during every Friday home game.

 

SATURDAY - 3:10 p.m. game

*Prior to Saturday's game, fans can enjoy a Cajun celebration at the Astros 7th Annual Bayou Bash, which will be held outside Minute Maid Park on the Plaza on Crawford St. from 12:00-3:00 p.m. This annual event, presented by Budweiser, will feature live music, cold beer and "tons" of crawfish. Additionally, a Bayou Bash trucker cap will be available to the first 1,000 fans that enter the Bayou Bash. Admission is free.

*Astros Gnome: When entering Minute Maid Park for Saturday's 3:10 p.m. game, 10,000 fans will receive an Astros Gnome presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors. This will mark the first time the Astros have offered this popular item as a giveaway promotion.

*Members of USO Houston (United Service Organizations, Inc.) will be at the Bayou Bash out on Crawford St. to collect signatures on an American flag as part of the national Every Moment Counts campaign to break the Guinness World Record. Fans can also show their support for the troops and their families by submitting a virtual signature at www.usomoments.org

*Astros manager Bo Porter and his wife, Stacey, will host close to 100 kids as part of their annual "Day At The Ballpark" event at Minute Maid Park. The event is part of the community outreach efforts that the Porters have organized through their S.E.L.F. Foundation. Bo and Astros players will speak to the kids in the press conference room at 11:45 a.m. The S.E.L.F. Foundation provides support to youth through Sports, Education, Life-Skills and Faith. 

*In honor of Armed Forces Day, 40 active duty military personnel and veterans will line the base paths with members of the Astros and White Sox for the National Anthem prior to the start of the game.

*The Astros will also recognize corporate partner Schlumberger for their participation in the Astros Community Leaders program. Schlumberger has committed to contributing $1.5 million over the next five years to the Community Leaders program for the renovation and construction of youth baseball and softball fields in the Greater Houston area.

 

SUNDAY - 1:10 p.m. game

*The Astros are teaming up with the Baseball Tomorrow Fund once again to host their annual Equipment Drive at Minute Maid Park. Fans are invited to donate new and used baseball or softball equipment at the Right Field, Clock Tower, South Home Plate and Union Station Atrium entrances. Equipment collected will be donated to Houston-area youth baseball organizations in need.
