HOUSTON -- Scott Feldman was back at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday and said he plans to take his turn in the rotation Thursday. Feldman was away from the team and on the bereavement list for three days to attend the funeral of his father in California.

"I've never been away from the team like this in my career," he said. "It felt kind of weird. Hopefully I don't have to do something like this again until I'm done playing -- for a long time. It was not fun, but I'm glad to be back."

All things considered, Feldman said the services for his father Marshall on Monday in California went well.

"It was as good as it could go for funeral," he said. "It was sad, but there was a lot of laughing going on. A lot of his buddies had some good stories and stuff. The people that spoke did a great job."

Feldman, who signed a three-year, $30 million deal this winter, has been terrific. He's 2-0 with a 0.44 ERA in three starts this year.

"He's doing what we expected him to do, be at the top of our rotation and give us good innings and model the right type of behavior for the rest of our guys," general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "Am I surprised he's had three good outings? No. Is he going to have all good outings this year? Probably not. He's a veteran pitcher, and there's a reason we signed him. And he's living up to our expectations, and I think he'll continue."
