Astros RHP Lucas Harrell to participate in American Diabetes walk

On Saturday, November 23 at Minute Maid Park, Houston Astros pitcher Lucas Harrell will join others walking with "Team Harrell" in the American Diabetes Association's Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes fundraising event. The Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes is the ADA's signature fundraising walk, and will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Texas and Crawford.

Several years ago, Harrell's father, Brad, was diagnosed with diabetes. Since then, Lucas has educated himself on the disease and become an advocate for research. Harrell will walk with Orbit, Astros front office staff and fans to help the ADA provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure. There will also be a silent auction table of Astros items at the event, with proceeds benefiting the ADA walk.

For more information on the walk or to make a donation to Team Harrell, please visit the American Diabetes Association website at http://main.diabetes.org/goto/TEAMHARRELL.
