Faith and Family Night, Dog Day highlight upcoming homestand

HOUSTON, TX - This weekend's homestand features several special events and fan attractions as the Astros take on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for a three-game series beginning on Friday, September 13.

Friday, September 13 - 7:10 p.m. vs. Los Angeles

Back again by popular demand, the final Dollar Dog Night of the season, presented by H-E-B, takes place this Friday, September 13. Fans can purchase an unlimited number of hot dogs at $1.00 each while supplies last (limit of four per person per concession visit).

Friday night is also Heroes Night at Minute Maid Park. Jackie Dowling, the wife of one of the firefighters who sustained severe injuries combatting the devastating motel fire in May, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Additional survivors of the incident will also be honored in a pregame ceremony.

Additionally, Big and Bright Friday Nights return with a postgame fireworks show, presented by Marathon Oil Corporation, following Friday night's game vs. the Angels. This week's show features music from the popular TV show Glee.

ProFX, the company responsible for the Minute Maid Park fireworks displays, received four nods from Yahoo! Sports on their "Best Fireworks in Sports" list this year.

Saturday, September 14 - 6:10 p.m. vs. Los Angeles

The inspirational "Faith and Family Night" returns on Saturday with another rousing, free concert following the 6:10 p.m. game. This season's final guest performer will be David Crowder, whose former band owns 9 GMA Dove Awards, was the first Christian act to be named MSN.com's Artist of the Year in 2006, and hit No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 list with their final album. As Crowder ventures forward with his new collective, fans can expect more of what they've always loved about his music through the years. Prior to the concert, Astros President Reid Ryan will take the stage to welcome the fans. Astros radio broadcaster and former MLB pitcher Steve Sparks will then emcee a testimony panel consisting of Astros outfielder Brandon Barnes, his wife Shawn Barnes, and pitcher Josh Fields.

A game ticket for Saturday night's game vs. the Angels is required for the postgame concert, which will take place on the field at Minute Maid Park.
