Astros place Stassi on seven-day concussion DL

Max Stassi, a 22-year-old rookie catcher who sustained a mild concussion after getting hit on the face while batting in the eighth inning on Wednesday night, was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list on Friday.

Stassi played in just two Major League games before the injury.

Stassi's injury opened up the door for 11-year Minor League veteran Cody Clark to be promoted to the big leagues for the first time. Clark, 31, was selected from Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday.

Clark first made an appearance at the Triple-A level in 2007 and had yet to advanced further. The catcher compiled a .227 average and .288 on-base percentage over parts of seven seasons in Triple-A.

Prior to the Astros' roster move, they ranked 30th in the Majors in average age at 25.4 years. The next-youngest teams were Miami and Atlanta at 27.2 years.
