HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros have recalled infielders Jake Elmore and Brett Wallace from Triple A Oklahoma City, General Manager Jeff Luhnow announced today.
Elmore (#10) and Wallace (#29) are scheduled to be in uniform for tonight's 7:10 p.m. game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals at Minute Maid Park.
This will be the second Major League stint in 2013 for both Elmore and Wallace. Elmore was 4x11 (.364) in three starts at second base (5/14-17) in May while filling in for Jose Altuve, who was on the Bereavement List. Wallace made the big club out of Spring Training, appearing in seven games before being optioned to OKC on April 18.
At OKC, Elmore, 26, hit .300 (80x267) in 69 games with 13 doubles, four triples, five homers and 30 RBI with 16 stolen bases and a .383 on-base pct. He was 4x5 on Saturday vs. Omaha and hit .395 (15x38) in his last 10 games. Elmore has appeared at second base, shortstop, third base and in left field for the RedHawks this season.
Wallace, 26, hit .326 (76x233) in 59 games at OKC with 16 doubles, 11 homers and 37 RBI with a .554 slugging pct. and a .952 OPS. He currently ranks sixth in the Pacific Coast League in batting, slugging and OPS. Wallace hit .393 (24x61) in his last 15 games for the RedHawks.
