The Houston Astros have placed 2B Jose Altuve on the Bereavement List today following the death of his grandmother. To take Altuve's spot on the active roster, the club has recalled IF Jake Elmore (#10) from Triple A Oklahoma City. Players are permitted to stay on the Bereavement List for a minimum of three, and a maximum of seven days. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow.
Elmore, 25, was hitting .300 (42x140) with 20 runs scored, 10 doubles, 15 RBI, eight stolen bases and a .381 on-base percentage in 36 games for the RedHawks this season. Elmore has primarily played second base in 2013 (31 games) but has also seen time at third base (3g) and shortstop (1g). This will be Elmore's second stint on a Major League roster after having spent 54 days with the Diamondbacks at the end of the 2012 season. He was acquired by Houston off of waivers from Arizona on Nov. 1, 2012.
