Astros to tighten security at Minute Maid Park

In wake of Boston bombings, club continuing to make fan safety top priority

The Astros will increase security at Minute Maid Park, the club announced on Thursday, in the wake of Monday's bombings at the Boston Marathon. The changes will begin with Friday night's 7:10 p.m. CT game against the Indians.

"Security at Minute Maid Park has been and will continue to be a top priority for the Houston Astros," the club said in a statement.

The Astros will work with the Houston Police Department, as well as state and federal authorities. They are asking fans to arrive at the stadium early to allow extra time for the new measures.
