Wikoff in stable condition after car accident

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Astros Minor League infielder Brandon Wikoff was listed in stable condition in a Florida hospital on Monday after being involved in a one-car accident Sunday evening, the team said in a statement.

"Our thoughts are with Brandon and his family and friends," Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said in a statement. "We're hopeful for a speedy recovery."

Sgt. Steve Gaskins of the Florida Highway Patrol said Wikoff was admitted to the trauma intensive care unit of Lakeland Regional Hospital sometime Sunday night.

Wikoff, a fifth-round pick out of Illinois in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, spent all of last season at Double-A Corpus Christi and hit .190 with two RBIs in 22 games. His playing time was limited because of a wrist injury he suffered in Spring Training last year. Wikoff, 24, was in extended Spring Training until late May.
