Astros owner ties for third at Pebble Beach

|

Astros owner Jim Crane, an avid golfer, teamed with PGA professional Kevin Streelman this weekend to finish tied for third place at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in California.

Crane and Streelman shot a 9-under-par 63 in Sunday's final round, finishing among a group of six pairs of golfers at 29-under. In the four rounds of the tournament, the two shot a 64, 61, 69 and 63. The tournament pairs one professional with one amateur.

Crane may be an amateur in title, but he's certainly no golf novice. He owns the Floridian National Golf Club in Florida and last week hosted a benefit tournament in which he played nine holes with Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.

The 58-year-old Crane is a scratch golfer who in 2006 was named the best CEO golfer in the country by Golf Digest. He's won multiple club championships and has a house on Pebble Beach, overlooking the golf course.

He's expected to be in Kissimmee, Fla., later this week when the Astros -- the team he purchased in 2011 -- kick off Spring Training.
