Maxwell receives treatment on injured left ankle

Astros' Maxwell gets treatment for injured ankle

HOUSTON -- Astros outfielder Justin Maxwell had treatment on his injured left ankle on Saturday night. Maxwell has been dealing with bone spurs in the ankle for the last few days.

Manager Brad Mills said Maxwell was available to pinch-hit on Sunday, but he wouldn't put Maxwell in if the ankle was bothering him.

"It might be kind of difficult for him to make an appearance today," Mills said.

Maxwell said the ankle felt better after the treatment. Neither Mills or Maxwell would comment on the exact type of treatment Maxwell received.

Maxwell was batting .233/.326/.475 entering Sunday. He hasn't played since Friday, when he pinch-hit.
