BALTIMORE -- The new "pace of game" regulations are in effect, and Astros manager Cecil Cooper found that out the hard way.
Cooper was fined an undisclosed amount for not complying with Major League Baseball's pace of game regulations during last weekend's home series with the Yankees. On Saturday, Brad Ausmus was on second base when the Astros' portion of the seventh inning ended, and Cooper didn't have another catcher ready to warm up reliever Geoff Geary.
Ron Gardenhire of the Minnesota Twins was also fined on Tuesday not complying with the pace of game rules.
