"I threw a couple slide-step pitches and didn't feel anything," Geary said. "The next step is doing side-to-side movements and bunt defense, bunt plays. Once I feel OK with that, there's no reason why I shouldn't be out there in a game."
Geary, who has been on the DL since May 16 with a strained right groin, will likely throw another bullpen session on Thursday, followed by one simulated inning on Saturday. If all goes well, he would rejoin the Astros' bullpen shortly after the simulated outing.
Geary is eligible to come off the DL on Saturday. Manager Cecil Cooper doubts Geary will need to complete a Minor League rehab assignment.
