Oswalt bruised by comebacker

SAN DIEGO -- Roy Oswalt said he has a big black mark on his right hip from being hit with a Kevin Kouzmanoff line drive on Monday, but he doesn't expect it to hold him back from any activities as he prepares for his next start on Saturday in Chicago.

"It's not broken, so I should be able to pitch with it," he said.

Oswalt said he felt a certain degree of pain in the first few innings after he was hit, but that it had nothing to do with his subpar performance against the Padres, who connected for 11 hits and three runs during his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Oswalt did acknowledge the comebacker off his hip was "probably the best one I had in a while."

"It has a mark on it, but it should be fine," he said. "I've been hit before. And I don't like it when the batters complain when they get hit."
