Astros Statement on the Passing of Former Astros-Colt .45s Pitcher Bob Bruce

The Houston Astros released the following statement on the recent passing of former pitcher Bob Bruce. He was 83 years old:


"As a member of the original Colt .45s team, Bob Bruce will always have a special place in the history of our organization, playing a significant role in several milestone moments. Bob holds the distinction of starting the final game ever played in Colt Stadium in 1964, and the very first official game in the new Astrodome in 1965. He was a popular player both on and off the field and helped solidify the Astros as a Major League franchise in the early years. We send our heartfelt condolences to Bob's many friends, family members and fans."
