HOUSTON -- The buzz surrounding the Astros continues to spread.
Houston will be FOX's featured team on "This Week in Baseball," to be aired Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. CT.
"It's very team-focused," producer Leslie Macher said, "but there are elements for Roger Clemens' return from [Class A] Lexington."
Clemens' preparation, including a full day's workout with his 19-year-old son, Koby, are part of this week's show.
Left-hander Andy Pettitte is another TWIB feature player. He'll be included in a segment dubbed Pepsi Pitch, Hit and Run, which focuses on players with great pick-off moves.
Even manager Phil Garner makes an appearance, as TWIB compares the National League champion Astros of 2005 with the '86 club that lost to the Mets in six games.
"On the second half of the show, we went to the Astros Alumni Golf Tournament and spoke to a couple of the guys from the '86 team," Macher said. "So we draw the correlation as Garner as manager today and his experience on that '86 team.
"The basic theme is how the Astros came so close last year to the ultimate victory, and that '86 team shared that kind of devastating loss. But once you get a taste of victory, you want to keep winning."
Texas native Matthew McConaughey rounds out the Lone Star State portion of TWIB. McConaughey, an avid Astros fan, discusses his passion for baseball and the Astros.
"He talks about how he enjoys the game and always wants the Astros to win," Macher said. "He talks about Clemens and enjoying a well-pitched game."
